New dwellings for which planning permission has been applied for & granted  since Jan. 07 must have an official BUILDING ENERGY RATING (BER ).From the 1st. Jan. 2009, a BER will be required for every commercial and residential building offered for sale, rent, or lease renewel.

What is BER ?. It is a method of giving your house a particular label or band "A" being the most energy efficient right down to "G".which is the least efficient something similar to the rating when buying a new fridge. This rating is reached by an energy audit carried out by a qualified BER assessor. A whole series of calculations and dimensions are feed into DEAP ( software programme used) and the result is the rating of your building.
